Two Of Many From Tony

Session player extraordinaire, Mr Mottola released quite a few albums under his own name on Command. 13 releases between 1959 and 1967, plus 20 or so on Project 3 through 1974. And all the ones he did for Time Records. Plus session work. He must have lived in the studio.

First up is 1962's Roman Guitar Volume 2. You can find Volume 1 at either the Thrift Store DJ or 's marvelous blogs. Links to get there are to your right. Italian and Roman songs played with his usual style using acoustic and electric guitars. An Enoch Light Production, so you know it's good.

1968 brought us Guitar USA, long after Enoch headed off for Project 3 but before ABC started cost cutting and killing the label. This is sort of a what's popular at the moment kind of album. When you see Mame, Spanish Flea and I Can't Get No Satisfaction on the same album, you know it's got to be the late 60's. A wide variety, all great to listen to.

Roman Guitar Vol.2 Track List: Tra VegliaE Sonno/Anema E Core/Carnival Of Venice/Scapricciatiello/Autumn In Rome/Guaglione/Nina/Souenir D'Italie/Scalinatella/Summertime In Venice/Te Voio Ben/Funiculi Funicula

Guitar USA Track List: Please/Mame/Yesterday/San Antonio Rose/Lost In The Stars/Spanish Flea/The Shadow Of Your Smile/I Can't Get No Satisfaction/Your Cheatin' Heart/Lemon Tree/Scarlet Ribbons/Guitars USA
